The following is helpful information for anyone considering or installing new counters. Although this focuses on kitchen counters the process is the same or similar for almost all installations. At time of job confirmation, we require a half down payment. Then the countertops will go through the production steps of templating, fabrication, tear out and installation.
Template: When we arrive for templating, we ask that your entire work area is clear and free of any objects. In the templating process, we make a pattern of your cabinets. *ALL CABINETS MUST BE PROPERLY INSTALLED* Below is a list of items that will be discussed. A ½ down payment is required at time of template.
· All sinks/cook-tops/faucets are checked for compatibility and fit (therefore all such units must be on-site at template).
· Cabinets are reviewed for any adjustments required, as best can be determined.
· Overhang, general, support and any personal preferences are discussed. Any refinements needed to cabinetry, etc., which will be required prior to installation of your counter tops will be discussed with you.
· Seam placement will be discussed.
· Tear-out? Does your project require existing countertops be removed and disposed?
· What type of sink will you need?
Sink: During Installation, your undermount sink(s), if applicable, will be mounted under your stone. We ask that you do not plumb in or use the sink in any way for at least 12 hours. Please keep this in mind when scheduling your plumber to reconnect the water and drain. *WE DO NOT UNHOOK OR RECONNECT PLUMBING* Also, cook-tops will be dropped into place for confirmation of fit.
Fabrication: Prior to fabrication, the slabs for your natural stone project needs to be approved. Fabrication takes approximately two weeks after the templating process. As with all jobs, your project can be subject to labor trouble, breakdowns, or other contingencies beyond our control.
Installation: At installation, we ask that you also clear the work area of any objects and clear a path for the installers to carry the stone. The installation phase can take the better part of a day; and can require some final cutouts to be made in your home. Please keep in mind that this is a major job, there may be some residual dust over the next couple of days, be sure to check items left in cabinets. We recommend the drawers be removed. Items under cook-top and sink cabinet must be removed to allow access. Some dust can result even though our installers are equipped to catch the majority of it. Granite, if not resin coated, and is sealed at time of installation.
Job Completion: Your inspection of the finished job is very important. The lead installer will review the installation with you, answer any questions you may have and ask for payment of the final balance due for your project.
